Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Google Chrome extensions developed by Anton Khoteev collect, why they collect it and who it is shared with. It covers the following extensions:
- Delete All Chats for ChatGPT™
- Mini Player for YouTube™
- Subtitles Tool for YouTube™
- Audio Translator for YouTube™
The extensions do not ask you to create an account or sign in. We collect only the information needed to run the extensions, keep the free plan fair, process purchases and fix problems.
Information We Collect
Installation identifier. On installation, the extension creates a random identifier and receives an access token from our server. They let the extension use its free limits and paid features without an account. The identifier is not linked to your name or Google account. If you buy a paid plan, it is linked to the email address you used at checkout.
Technical information. With each request to our server we receive your IP address, which we use to determine your country. We store the country and the most recent IP address. Our server logs also record IP addresses; they are deleted automatically after 14 days. The extension also reports:
- its version and the language you chose in it;
- your operating system, its version and processor architecture;
- your browser, its version and whether it runs on a desktop, phone or tablet;
- the language of the browser interface and your time zone;
- how the extension was installed (from the Chrome Web Store, by your organization's policy, or as a developer build);
- whether the browser supports features the extension relies on, such as the side panel.
Usage events. The extensions report which of their features you use and when, for example that picture-in-picture was turned on, subtitles were exported, chats were deleted, a video was dubbed, or the price screen was shown. If you rate an extension when it asks you to, we record the number of stars and that you opened its Chrome Web Store page. Error reports include the error message, the place in the extension where it happened and technical details of the browser. For YouTube extensions, some events and error reports include the ID of the YouTube video and the subtitle language. The ChatGPT extension sends, once a day, a description of the ChatGPT sidebar layout (which elements are shown and how many chats are in the list) and the type of your ChatGPT plan.
AI video notes. When you ask Subtitles Tool for YouTube™ for notes on a video, the extension sends the video's subtitles, title, channel name and length to our server, and the server passes them to OpenAI, which writes the notes. We store the notes and show the same notes to anyone who asks for them on the same video, format and language. We also record which notes you received, so that we can count your limit and you can open them again.
AI translation and voice. When you listen to a video in the Advanced mode of Audio Translator for YouTube™, the extension sends the video's subtitles with their timing to our server, one minute of the video at a time, together with the video ID, its length, the language of the video and the language you chose. The server passes the subtitles to OpenAI, which translates them and, if you chose an AI voice, reads the translation aloud. We store the translations and the voice recordings and give the same ones to anyone who listens to the same part of the same video in the same language and voice. We also record which minutes of translation you received, so that we can count your limit.
Purchases. Payments are processed by our Merchant of Record (see below) under its own privacy policy. We never receive your card details. We pass your installation identifier to the Merchant of Record so that the purchase is linked to your installation, and receive back your email address, the plan, the price and the subscription status.
Messages you send us. If you write to us from an extension, we receive your message. If it contains an email address, we use it to find and restore your purchase.
Cookie. The welcome page that opens after installation sets the khv_device cookie with a random identifier for up to 400 days. It helps us recognize a device after the extension is reinstalled and prevent abuse of the free plan.
Removing an extension. When you remove an extension, the browser opens our page, which records the removal and takes you to an optional feedback form. After that, nothing more is collected.
What Stays in Your Browser
To do their job, the extensions work with the pages they are made for. The ChatGPT extension loads the list of your chats, including their titles, so that you can choose which ones to delete. The YouTube extensions work with the video player and its subtitles. This happens in your browser: the content of these pages, your chats and their titles are not sent to our servers, apart from the information listed above.
In the Free mode of Audio Translator for YouTube™, the translation comes from YouTube's own automatic translation of subtitles, so the subtitles are not sent to our server. In the Free mode, and in the Advanced mode if you choose your browser's voice, the translation is read aloud by a voice built into your browser. Some browser voices, such as Google voices in Chrome or online voices in Microsoft Edge, are online services of the browser maker, which receives the text being read aloud.
We do not collect your browsing history, passwords or payment card details, do not track your activity on other websites, do not show ads and do not sell your information.
How We Use Information
- to provide the features of the extensions and apply the limits of the free plan;
- to show prices in your local currency and process and restore purchases;
- to find and fix errors and understand which browsers and systems the extensions need to support;
- to understand which features are used and improve the extensions;
- to notify the developer about errors, purchases and other events so that problems can be investigated. A notification includes the internal number of the installation, its country and the details of the event;
- to answer your messages.
We process technical information and usage events based on our legitimate interest in running and improving the extensions, and purchase information to fulfil our contract with you.
Service Providers
We share information only with the providers that help us run the extensions:
- Merchants of Record that sell our paid plans and process payments: Paddle.com, Polar. They receive your country to show local prices and your installation identifier for the order;
- OpenAI, which receives the subtitles, title, channel name and length of a video when you ask for AI notes on it, and writes the notes, and the subtitles of a video you listen to in the Advanced mode of Audio Translator for YouTube™, which it translates and reads aloud;
- IP geolocation services ipinfo.io and ipaddress.com, which receive your IP address to determine your country;
- Notion, which hosts the optional feedback form that opens after an extension is removed and receives what you enter in it;
- the providers that host our servers and help us monitor them, and Telegram, which delivers the developer notifications and your messages.
Our servers and several of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area. Where a provider offers Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, transfers rely on them; otherwise, information is transferred only as far as needed to provide the extension you use. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Retention and Security
Information linked to an installation is kept after the extension is removed and is used for statistics; we delete it at your request. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs with IP addresses are deleted after 14 days. AI video notes, translations and voice recordings are kept so that they can be shown or played again for the same video.
Information is sent over HTTPS and stored on protected servers. The access token is stored only as a hash.
Your Rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to its processing, or receive it in a portable format. Write to aahoteev@gmail.com. For purchases, include the email address you used at checkout; without it, we may not be able to find information about an installation.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.
We act as the data controller for the information processed through the extensions listed above.
Children
The extensions are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.
